Mid-level Landscape Architect/Designer (5-10 years’ experience) - Whitefish, MT.

Bruce Boody Landscape Architect, Inc. has an opening for a mid-level, full-time, licensed Landscape Architect in our studio located in Whitefish, Montana. Whitefish is a mountain ski town, home to a world-class ski resort. Located on the shores of Whitefish Lake, and at the gateway to Glacier National Park, Whitefish affords residents a high-quality life. The small town has character, a vibrant night life, professional theater, and features a diverse mix of retail shops, coffee houses, and restaurants. Residents are actively involved in the community, planning regular events, and participating in the public planning process to promote smart growth, and keep Whitefish the small town we love.

The culture at Bruce Boody Landscape Architect’s studio is one of being community involved. BBLA is passionate about projects that add community benefit, and has been involved in the majority of Whitefish’s public park and trail system projects. BBLA encourages team members to get involved in the community outside of work, and have a healthy work/life balance. BBLA has a full project board, but the office atmosphere is relaxed and casual, and team members are afforded flexible schedules. With an open floor plan in a historic, brick, natural light filled building, the principal, designers, and draftsperson professional, work together collaboratively.

Our office is currently seeking a talented new team member, with five years of experience or more. Our ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, and experience developing details, specifications, and construction documents including grading, planting, and irrigation plans. The ideal candidate will also have experience in conceptual site design, site and master planning, permitting, and research. Experience with construction administration is also desired, with specific skills in managing project budgets, maintaining client relationships, coordinating with consultant teams, and performing construction observations.

The candidate should demonstrate strong graphic and written communication skills. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite are required. The successful candidate will have the ability to present ideas through hand sketches, computer graphics, and verbal communication. Knowledge of the regional climate and planting palette is desirable. Additional programs used in the office include Land F/X, Civil 3d, Revit, and SketchUp. Knowledge of one or more of these programs is a bonus, but is not required.


Successful candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and have a professional Bachelor’s or Master’s design degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution.
