The City of Missoula leveraged a $1.0 million general obligation bond to plan, design, purchase and construct 13 new and unique playgrounds in 18 months at a cost exceeding $1.3 million. This session will focus on: project approach, asset management planning for playgrounds, use of housing and demographic data, design strategies, utilizing play value information, public processes, working with playground vendors, purchasing strategies, and implementation. Following the presentation, go on tour to see the new playgrounds and ask questions regards playground design, equipment performance, construction challenges, and maintenance.
