CAPITAL PROJECT MANAGER
Parks, Recreation, and Public Lands
The Capital Project Manager will perform professional landscape architectural work involved in the design, investigation, and construction of parks and recreation capital improvement projects including park and trail planning and construction, irrigation systems, grading and drainage, parking and structures; to act as a project manager on assigned projects. This position performs a full range of duties as assigned, working independently and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This position will routinely interact with consultants, contractors, and departmental staff in all phases of project management.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. These hours may vary based on operational needs.
Compensation: $30.61 - $35.41, Salary at hiring will be dependent upon the applicant’s education and experience (the salary range shown reflects steps 1 and 4 of a 7-step pay scale). Employees advance to the next step on their anniversary. Step increases are awarded annually until the highest step is achieved, additional longevity pay is earned based on years of service and COLA increases are negotiated each July. Exceptional benefits are provided including health/life insurance, retirement plan with generous employer contributions, sick leave, 10 paid holidays per year, 3 personal days per year and 3 weeks’ vacation leave per year. Vacation accruals begin immediately, increase with longevity and are available to use after your first 180 days on the job.
Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, or a related field
Five (5) or more years of combined education and experience, or equivalent
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Licensed as a Landscape Architect by the Montana State Board of Architects and Landscape Architects
Experience in park planning and development in communities with urban/wildland interface areas
Experience in a public agency
Experience with Auto CADD and related design programs
